Myke Chambers – Traveling and Tattooing

January 3, 2011 by , under Tattoo Artists.

Myke Chambers has been tattooing for sixteen years already and has refined his artistic skills, finding pleasure in creating traditional tattoo designs injected with his own creative ingenuity and personal vision. His portfolio is full of outstanding works that are clean, crisp and bold with classic and vintage appeal that reflects dedication and respect for the art. Though old school in his approach, he is far from being your conventional tat artist as you can not find him in one place. He is constantly on the road, traveling, attending conventions, guest tattooing and to quote him ” I go where the wind blows. Carpe Diem”.

Here are some previews of his amazing works and our short chat with him.

1)When did you start tattooing? How did you become a tattoo artist?
I started tattooing around 1994 but that was without an apprenticeship and it didn’t know what the hell i was doing. How did i become a tattoo artist? i did an apprenticeship. hahahaha! I had a friends who was an artist in New Orleans LA USA and he agreed to teach me.

2) Where do you draw inspirations for your designs?
I get inspirations really from everywhere. other tattooers, nature, photos, books, the internet.

2)How would you describe your style of tattooing? Is there a particular genre that you specialize in?I do a style of American Traditional that is really just my own. i just do it. I don’t know what to call it really. and yes i do…my style! hahaha!

3)Based on your experience, what is the latest tattoo trend nowadays? Is there a particular design or tattoo theme that people are mostly going for these days?yeah, there’s always going to be trends tho tattooing itself will hold over time. I see alot of color portraits and realism being the craze at the time but really American Traditional is on a BIG upswing with the younger collectors and i must admit i like it.

4)When people ask you for advice on what designs to go for, what do you usually tell them.Something that’s not a trend. a tattoo that will always be in style. traditional….and something they’re gonna be cool with having forever.

5)Which body part is your favorite spot to tattoo on and why?
I like every spot but if i have to pick one…back. because it’s big. hahaha

6)What are your three most favorite tattoo works? Can you tell us something about them.
tiger sleeve- it’s a full sleeve of a winged tiger spanning the length of my clients arm. i just really like it.party elephant- it just makes me smile to look at it…snake girl with a top hat- she was fun!!
