Foot tattoos are sexy

July 9, 2008 by , under Foot Tattoos.

Foot used to be a rare placement for tattoos but nowadays, it is getting more and more popular. With the right design, execution and colors, foot tattoos can really be sexy, attractive and unique.

However, there are some issues concerning getting tattoos on your foot. In fact, there are still some tattoo artists who refuse to ink a design on this area of the body since they would not want carry the burden of the unfavorable circumstances that might arise due to tattooing on this part. For one, the foot is considered the most painful part to get tattooed being one of the boniest areas of the body, with a very high-degree of nerve sensitivity. There are no muscles and padding to cushion the skin.

Another factor is the difficulty of maintenance for foot tattoos. It is a body part that has high mobility so there are a lot of physical activities involved as a result of normal everyday life. Therefore, it will require touch-ups after several months of having it done in order to retain its color and quality.

The healing process is another issue when it comes to tattoos on foot as it takes longer. No wearing of shoes, socks or stocking for weeks until it completely heals.  They can consistently rub against your foot and can cause damage to the designs. Therefore, it is advisable to get this done during the summer when one can go out in flip flops and sandals. The good thing though is there are topless sandals that you can find online which will best suit you in case you decide to have your foot tattooed.

So why are foot tattoos desired a lot especially by women? Well, even if there are disadvantages to getting one, there are great things as well. This placement is excellent for starting out with small designs especially on the top part of the foot. Most loved designs are flowers, tribal art, stars and lettering. Basically, you can choose anything that can be perfectly symmetrical to the shape of your foot. It is advise though not to go with very miniature designs since with the given possibility of foot tattoos getting blurred after some time, the tattoo might end up looking like a blob

If you choose to have it inked on your foot, you always have the option of hiding it when needed and you can easily show it off just by simple change of footwear .  Therefore, it can be discrete yet can be flaunted when you feel like it.

The “success” of your foot tattoo depends entirely on how you take care of it. If you really want it bad ( which is understandable) you should be 100% committed to making it work by taking extra care of it.

How to take care of your foot tattoo

Here are some tips shared by our tattoo artist friends:

  • The initial healing process will determine the final outlook of your tattoo so give extra care and attention during this period.
  • Don’t wear shoes, socks or stockings for at least 3 weeks. If you can get away with not wearing them at all for even longer period, then by all means don’t.
  • Keep it slightly moist with an ointment that your tattoo artist recommend to you. Apply with just the right amount to keep it moisturize and infection-free but not too much which might clog the pores.
  • Keep your foot clean and avoid exposing it to dirty areas especially during the healing process.
  • Give them lots of air and try not to rub them too much.
  • Avoid too much exposure to the sun, and no soaking and swimming for at least 3 weeks.
