The website of suicide girls consists of the soft-core pin-up-style pictures and profiles of young women of Goth, punk and indie-styled. The access for the website needs a paid membership. The website is like an online community with the profiles of the members and message boards which provides the interviews with major models in both popular and alternative culture.
The founding partners of SG Services lnc. created the website and the concept in late 2001 in Portland and in 2003 the operations are moved to Los Angeles. The name suicide girls were originated from the usage by Fight Club author and the resident of the Portland Chuck Palahniuk in his novel Survivor. Each suicide girls are creating their own theme of images and is designed to show how each of them feels most beautiful about them. Most of the suicide girls are American but there are girls from every continent.

Kat Von d became famous from her TLC reality show Miami Ink about five tattoo artists who set up a tattoo shop in South Beach and she turned her fame in to her tattoo parlor and there are about 4000 members in her fan club. She is one of the biggest tattoo artists in the world and her client list consists of numerous rockers and roller and mostly recently Jenna Jameson. There is not much artists who are successful to cross from the penning ink to walking on the red carpet and she has an impressive accomplishment. She is attracted to the art of tattooing at a young age and done tattooing for the first time when she was fourteen years of age. She has traveled as a featured artist at tattooing conference across US and Canada. Kat Von D is now known among tattooing celebrities like Jenna Jameson, Scott Ian, Nicole Richie, Sebastian Bach, Eve, Eric Balfour and Steve-O.
