Danilo Sini – Tattoo Artist -Sardegna (Europe)
December 20, 2010 by admin, under Tattoo Artists.
Danilo Sini’s first involvement in the industry started in the mid 90′s when he worked as a flash designer for an international tattoo magazine called “Trentini Edizioni”. In his desire to improve his craft even further, he read all sort of magazines, articles and blogs related to the tattoo world and soon, found himself making tattoo machines. And just last April, his friend needed a hand for another tattoo artist and he could not pass the opportunity. From drawing and designing to building the machine and inking on the skin, he seems to be embracing it all. That is why, we felt the need to chat with him to find out where all these creative insights and ingenuity are emanating from.
1. Where do you draw inspirations for your designs? In general from whatever stimulates my creativity but I could say different things depending on themes and styles. For example for the chicano and the realistic styles I draw inspirations from reality. For the new school style I hark back to classical subjects giving vent to my imagination. For the tribal style, on the other hand, I base my paper on the culture to which tribal belong paying attention to body parts on which it will be played.
2. How would you describe your style of tattooing? Is there a particular genre that you specialize in?I love black and grey and I pay a lot of attention to details. The new school style is my favorite but unfortunately, to tell the truth, in the town where I live that style is not considered so cool. To be honest I do not care so much to the fashion and of course I will not be influenced by it. Proof of that are the many examples of flash posted on my facebook and myspace accounts.

3. Based on your experience, what is the latest tattoo trend nowadays? Is there a particular design or theme that people are mostly going for these days? Speaking in terms of flash I can say that the latest trend are the chicano and the new school styles. They are also those which sell more in England in fact I’m currently working on a new one to send there. Speaking in terms of tattoos begin to take hold the chicano style not forgetting the evergreen as jap, fantasy and tribal styles.

4. When people ask you for advice on what designs to go for, what do you usually tell them?
First of all I try to understand if they are really motivated and convinced and on the basis of the chat I decide if it’s the case of tattooing or not. According to the customer ideas and to the part of the body in which he/she would I suggest the sketch, made by me, closer to his/her requests.
5. Which body part is be your favorite spot to ink on and why? Outer parts of the limbs and back. Both are areas where the skin is less elastic and where people feel less pain. They are also areas suitable for medium to large tattoos that I prefer.
6. What are your three most favorite tattoo works? Can you tell us something about them?I love all of them but to be honest I felt in love with the first I made and another one which has very unusual theme and subjects. I made both for two friends and of course there are different reasons why I prefer them than others. The first probably because was the first. It’s a triskel inserted in a shaded tribal.

The second simply because it was made using a tattoo machine made by me and because its theme and subjects. It’s a black and grey new school style tattoo in which a skeleton wears a tailcoat and dances with a praying mantis who wears a full dress…..Could I call it the “last dance”? Let to the free interpretation!
